Rep. Brady to Host Identity Theft and Scam

Workshop for Seniors

Bloomington…State Representative Dan Brady is teaming up with the Illinois Attorney General’s office to give local seniors the tools they need to protect themselves against identity theft, home repair fraud and other scams. On Tuesday, July 29th, Representative Brady is hosting a Senior ID Theft and Scams Workshop. From 10:00am to 11:00am representatives of the Attorney General’s office will be on hand at Westminster Village, 2025 East Lincoln in Bloomington, to provide critical information on how seniors can protect their bank accounts and their peace of mind

“Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the nation. All too often, seniors are targeted for identity theft, home repair fraud and other scams because they are most likely to have money saved and own property. The good news is that there are steps you can take to protect yourself, and that’s what we’ll be talking about at our workshop,” Brady said.

Topics that will be covered at Rep. Brady’s Senior ID Theft and Scam workshop include:

  • Protecting yourself from fraud
  • How to check your credit history
  • How to keep your Social Security Number and other personal information safe
  • Information about the state ID Theft Hotline and other resources available to you should you fall victim to identity theft

Ways to protect your self from home repair and charity scams targeted at seniors will also be covered.

“I hope all area seniors interested in protecting themselves from identity theft and other scams will join me on July 29th,” Brady concluded.
